MAZI project partner, Mark Gaved of the Open University, presented the work of the SALSA project at a This Happened event in Edinburgh in April 2016. This Happened is a series of events about interaction design, with a focus on work that uses a new approach or explores a new process. SALSA is a project on smart cities and language learning, and is currently running in Milton Keynes in the UK. The project is exploring how and where people use their mobile phones for language learning, and more specifically, smartphones. By installing beacons across the town, SALSA enables participants to access language learning activities through an app, that are relevant to their specific location and context.
